Tour Details

The Machame route is the most popular path. It is the route of choice for many people because it provides impressive views and a variety of habitats. Also known as the Whiskey route, given its reputation for being a tough climb, with steeper trails, for longer distances, while sleeping in tents.

Climbing can be done in a minimum of six days (five nights) on the mountain. However, it is most often tackled over seven days (six nights), for a better altitude acclimatization schedule. The success rate is significantly higher when using the seven day route. With an approximation of 62 km/ 37 miles from gate to gate. It is designed for physically fit people with some hiking experience, but plenty of first time trekker use the route as well and do just fine.

What to Expect

One of Kilimanjaro’s main advantage is that, you do not have to be a mountaineer to conquer it. Whoever you are, you do not need a single piece of mountain climbing equipment or any prior climbing experience to summit the highest mountain in Africa. With good hiking boots and determination, you can make it to the top.

But that’s by no means to say that climbing this astonishing natural wonder will be a walk in the park. It is a grueling climb, often trying cold weather conditions, on uneven terrain and exposed to the elements. But we can assure you that the sense of achievement and the view from the summit will be well worth all the hard work. In the meantime, here’s what to expect along the way.
